Thanksgiving Day Liturgy

11/26/2020

Thursday, November 26
9:00 am
Online

Did you know that Eucharist means thanksgiving?
Our local tradition is to bring the bread, wine or cider that will be shared at the Thanksgiving table to church. We lay them on the altar steps where they will be blessed before we take them back home to serve to those we love. This year, since we are celebrating virtually, please have the bread, wine or cider handy wherever you're watching the livestream and we will bless it as you hold it.

Have a blessed holiday! November 25 to 27
The parish office will close at noon on Wednesday and reopen on Monday. In case of an emergency requiring a priest please call (805) 512·3208.

Peace & Justice

7/10/2020

Our team works towards making Catholic social justice permeate the life of the parish, with local and global foci on the needs of the vulnerable and the excluded.

We provide learning and growing opportunities for parishioners to fully live out Catholic social teaching and to see the face of Jesus through actions such as: feeding, clothing, and housing the poor visiting prisoners caring for life at every stage changing systems that are unjust.

All are welcome!

Landings

7/1/2020

A Caring Ministry for Returning Catholics
If you are an inactive Catholic you may want to consider Landings.

We are a group of Catholics who, for any number of reasons, were away from the church and came back to regular attendance and active participation.

We share our faith journeys and want to hear your stories. We also discuss contemporary Catholic themes and have resources available for questions about the Catholic Faith and the Church.

Landings is a 10-week series that offers a safe place to tell one’s story, discern a place in the Church, and find a way home. Join us; we welcome you.

Prayer & Pruning

2/2/2020

Thursdays
9:30 am – 12:00 pm
Stations of the Cross Garden

We work to maintain this part of our church grounds and pray for each person who walks through the garden that they may find God's peace there.

We prune, weed, and maintain the garden, as we share our appreciation for the beauty of God's creation.

All gardeners welcome, and you can bring your children! Come for an hour or more as you are able. If you like to be outside and do not garden, we always have small jobs to do.

Bring a hat, clippers and a bucket. You can show up, but a phone call may be useful in case of a schedule change.

Confirmation Preparation for Adults

2/1/2020

Thursdays
7:00 - 8:30 pm
San Miguel Room

Begins January 9 through May

Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist are called the Sacraments of Initiation because they are the foundation of the Christian life. Through these sacraments, we are immersed in the mystery of Jesus’ saving death and resurrection. To be a fully initiated member of the Catholic Church, one needs to have celebrated all three of these sacraments. For various reasons, some adults have not yet celebrated Confirmation.

At Padre Serra, we have a comprehensive 4-month
process to prepare adults to be confirmed. The bishop celebrates confirmation at the parish sometime in May (date to be determined in the fall).
