Led by Fr. Jim Clarke, our annual women’s retreat will be filled with wisdom, quiet moments, prayer, liturgy, music, spirituality, friendship and fun shared together.
Priority registration to Padre Serra parishioners, first-come/first-serve, begins September 7 - 8, 14 - 15 in the courtyard. $355/person/shared. $100 non-refundable deposit is required at registration

Guided by Mater Dolorosa’s retreat team, this weekend retreat is silent. It includes conferences, time for personal prayer in your private room, the chapel, and the center’s 20 acres of gardens, including their historic Stations of the Cross. Their team offers the Mass, spiritual direction, and the opportunity for the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Padre Serra women join other groups of women from parishes in Southern California.

The Crucified One Lives: Finding Comfort in the
​Passion of Christ

The Passion of Christ and the sufferings of the members of His Body, the Church, form one mystery. This retreat will provide the opportunity to gain a deeper awareness and understanding of this mystery: The Passion of Christ and the sufferings of his Body - member for member - are one.

The earliest Easter proclamation was "The Crucified One Lives." As the gospel account of "Doubting Thomas" makes clear, he found comfort in the wounds of Christ, Crucified and Risen. And Christ's Body, the Church, still bears wounds.

In the spirit of the Passionists we will consider ways in which we might find comfort in the Passion of Christ. Doing so brings us into closer union with God, invites us to a deeper knowledge of ourselves, and impels us to respond to the needs of others, especially those who are poor, suffering, or wounded in any way.

Married Couples Retreat

The Catechism teaches that "Christ’s grace in the Sacrament of Marriage protects the essential purposes of marriage: the good of the couple and the generation and education of children. These purposes are protected and fostered by the permanence of the marriage bond and the mutual fidelity of spouses”  (United States Catholic Catechism for Adults, 283).

All couples are encouraged to participate in this opportunity to enrich and strengthen your marriage, sacrament and relationship with one another and God.
