Theology on Tap reaches out to young adults who want to explore the role of faith in their daily lives.
Created in 1981, RENEW International’s Theology-on-Tap is a nationally recognized speaker and fellowship program that has been successfully bringing young adults to the church for more than 30 years.
In this casual atmosphere, you’ll hear straight talk and honest answers to your deepest questions about faith, love, work and other real life experiences. Theology on Tap provides an opportunity to not only learn about the Catholic faith but also meet like-minded people and make new friends.

Padre Serra Parish is proud to charter a Boy Scout Troop and support three Girl Scouts units.
Catechetical Sunday is a day set aside to recognize the vocation and ministry of teaching and sharing the faith with others. A wonderful opportunity to reflect on the role that each baptized person plays in handing on the faith and being a witness to the Gospel.
On this day catechists throughout the diocese, and country, are commissioned and dedicate themselves to their vocation of teaching the faith to the children, teens and adults of our parish community.
The catechists of our parish, wonderful men and
women who answered YES to the call to be present and walk the faith journey with the adults, youth and children of the parish, are called forth to receive a blessing and be formally commissioned to continue the beautiful labor of sharing and growing in the faith.
To all catechists in our lives, parents and grandparents, priests and deacons, religious sisters, church family, all who have been encounters of Jesus in our lives, we thank you!

There are occasional solo opportunities and one of the most important missions of CMSC is to form young people in music ministry - the idea that rather than a mere performance what the choir does at the liturgy is to lead the singing of the assembly, and to enable their own and everyone's sung prayer. Additionally, when the choir sings by itself at the liturgy, the purpose is to help everyone there who hears the music, including the singers themselves, to encounter Jesus. We are trying to teach all participants in all the choirs that it is a ministry of service to God's people and to the liturgy, and that worship "in spirit and in truth" is what we are aiming for.
To join CMSC, schedule a Vocal Checkup with our Children's Choir Director, Kathleen MacAller.
New and/or returning CMSC members can make an appointment for vocal checkups using Sign Up Genius.
Rehearsals Thursday evenings
Auditions are held for voice placement and/or solo opportunities. For an audition, please contact:

On Saturday, June 23 at the 5:00pm mass, Jennifer Jamison and Richard Hergenreder were received into the Catholic Church.
Already one with us as baptized Christians, they made a profession of faith in the Catholic Church, were confirmed and received Eucharist for the first time.
It is with great joy that we welcome them and thank God for their presence which renews and strengthens our community.
New members are welcomed into the Catholic faith through the RCIA, the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults. If you would like to know more about RCIA for adults or children, please contact Catherine Shadduck (805) 482·6417 ext. 331 or

Eighty-seven high school teens and thirteen adults received the sacrament of Confirmation on May 27, 2018.
In Confirmation, the faith received at Baptism is strengthened. The Holy Spirit, that confirmed the apostles on Pentecost, will pour out her gifts on the candidates, completing their initiation and giving them strength and courage to live a Catholic Christian way of life.

Discipleship: Becoming Fools for Christ
This year's parish mission is an invitation to explore the radical foolishness of Christianity as a positive force for change and conversion in the face of division, discrimination, and violence in our world. Looking at the Scripture with new eyes, journeying with wisdom figures like St. Francis of Assisi and Pope Francis, we will reflect on ways to overcome our tendency to 'water down' or domesticate our faith and the message of the Gospel, so that we can respond to Christ's call to be foolish according to the logic of the world and become wise in the eyes of God.

We take our cars in for periodic oil changes. We see our physicians for an annual physical or wellness check. The same is needed for our spiritual lives, individually and as a faith community, and we can't always get away for a retreat. So a parish mission is that "shot in the arm", that energizing renewal of our personal faith as Jesus' disciples and our parish community's commitment to the Body of Christ.
